Record January for Property Portals

We are delighted that both portals announced record traffic in January 2020, highlighting how market confidence is retuning.

OnTheMarket in January exceeded 30 million visits which is a new monthly record for the portal. It enjoyed an increase of more than 28% compared with January 2019 and 11% more than the previous record of 27.2 million in September 2019.

This resulted in a 52% increase in the total number of phone and email leads compared with January 2019. Average leads per advertiser rose 35% to 126, up from 93 in January 2019.

Meanwhile, Rightmove also announced its busiest ever month with visits to the portal surpassing 150 million for the first time. There were more than 152 million visits to Rightmove in January, which is a 7% increase on January 2019.

According to Rightmove the number of sales being agreed by agents was up 12% compared to the same month in 2019, the biggest year-on-year jump in any month since July 2017. London saw the biggest uplift, up 26% year-on-year, followed by the East of England, up 20%.
